Immunology and Transplantation Lab
Our mission is to improve peoples’ lives through research into immunological disease.
Clinical Immunologist Professor Michaela Lucas leads a multi-disciplinary team of researchers, aiming to shed light on complex immune responses to understand how our behaviour, environment and diet affects our community’s health.
Australia is currently facing an allergy and autoimmunity epidemic. With one of the highest allergy rates in the world, the rapid and continuing rise of immunological disorders in Australia is a serious public health issue.
We undertake immunological research that aims to inform public health policy, interventions, and improve clinical practice in Western Australia.
Our research areas include:
1. Allergy and autoimmunity research in adults and children aimed at directly improving health outcomes
2. Antibiotic allergy research contributing toward the effort to curb antimicrobial resistance
3. Improving long term health outcomes in organ transplantation
Your support will help us to continue our important research and improve health outcomes across the WA community.
