WA Youth Cancer Service
Health professionals supporting young people aged 15-25 having treatment for cancer in WA hospitals.
“I find myself upset about the loss of my social life as I feel so distant and isolated from everyone, but too tired and crappy to do anything much other than be at home” Patient, 19yrs
Becoming an adult is difficult enough. A cancer diagnosis in adolescence can make lots of things even harder.
One thing young people describe as particularly distressing is isolation - having to leave school or work; being the only young person in a hospital waiting room; feeling left behind by their friends.
Facilitated exercise, educational and therapeutic group programs give young people with cancer a chance to meet others who have been through similar experiences.
Your donation will help us build programs to reduce their sense of isolation, improve their well-being, confidence, and self-esteem.
Thank you for making a difference!
